BREAKING derful liberties within the frame work of specific authority. A man is whole only as he is rightly related to the Lord. In order to be so inte grated he must truly know God, as well as the nature of righteousness. There is an excellent book en titled AUTHORITY written by Dr. Martin Lloyd Jones. I would com mend it to you for your further study. There is satisfying authority in the holy Scriptures which pro vide liberty of thought and life. Authority is the power or right to give commands, to enforce obe dience, to take action and to make final decisions. No scientist has yet been successful in creating life either from nothing or from inor ganic matter. This is the ultimate prerogative and authority of God. Jesus Christ claimed authority to give life. The Jews were infuriated for His healing of the infirmed man on the Sabbath day. Their rage became murderous when He called God His Father. Jesus sup ported this claim to equality with By DR. LESTER PIPKIN words recorded in John 5:21, 24- 26. How exclusive is His authority over life! If a man desires eternal life he must obtain it from one Source. If Jesus Christ is by-passed there is no life to be found apart from Him. Such life is not discov ered through education, the hu manities or sciences. It is not attained through good behaviour however zealously performed. It is received only through Jesus Christ. He alone has authority over it. If you believe this you must proclaim Christ's authority in the immeasur ably important areas of life. This must be your occupation whatever may be your vocation. As far as liberty is concerned, this allows the grand freedom of clear conscience, the release from fear, the jpy of forgiveness, the guarantee of an endless commun ion and unhindered fellowship with God. Eternal life will give the needed time to accomplish and fulfill all of life's good goals. It will provide the liberty of unlimited Page 53
