Here at the CIPP, we always want to be at the forefront of ‘leading the future of payroll and pension professionals’, and these days, a huge element of payroll centres on the software an organisation is using to run their payroll(s). It’s now widely accepted that the software used in this space can result in a satisfied payroll team who don’t have to use endless manual workarounds or perform the task of mundane, repetitive data keying. It’s also noted that it can impact the morale of your workforce more generally, as quality payroll software can mean more accurate payroll processing, which subsequently translates to correct pay on pay day. And let’s be honest, that’s what most of us go to work for. I can’t go without mentioning the importance of compliance in payroll here, in terms of avoiding penalties, fees and potential reputational damage. In summary, the payroll software you use can have pretty big impacts on a lot of things! So, you’ve identified that you want to consider implementing new payroll software within your business, as the current software you’re using just isn’t doing the job, or the organisation has evolved so much that it’s
no longer fit for purpose. What now? We completely understand that the task of setting off on the journey of selecting new payroll software can be daunting, and, in fact, pretty terrifying. This is why we provide our Software Directory on an annual basis, in the hope of alleviating some of that initial fear. The conundrum can be that there are just so many products out there, offering so many different things. And you just don’t know where to start! So, the start of the directory aims to help you narrow down the products that would be beneficial for you and your business, as not every provider will offer everything you need.
