An important part of our unique culture is our commitment to promote from within. New Birmingham frontline leader BARRY STONE is an excellent example of that, having begun his Averitt career in 2015 as a driver for our Mercedes team. DETERMINATION Creates Growth Opportunities Barry also served as a city driver and shuttle driver before his recent promotion, and he chalks that growth up to a few things. “When you’re upfront with your leaders about your career goals, that will put a bug in their ear,” he says. “And when it comes down to it, don’t be afraid to make the move. It’s like my second family.” Barry says associates who want to grow in their own careers should make sure leadership is aware of their goals.

Additionally, Hatch earned his CDL and has at times helped out as a driver. “I think that says a lot about Averitt’s culture,” Hatch says. “I’ve been here 27 years now, and I’ve always heard about Averitt’s culture.
