V eterans Day is a day of reverence and reflection. It provides us an opportunity to honor the men and women who stood and continue to stand in defense of freedom. It’s a day of gratitude for the sacrifice of our veterans and their families. HONORING OUR VETERANS Each year, the Spring Lake community gathers to honor its veterans through meaningful events led by the Spring Lake American Legion Post 432. One of the highlights of these events is the Veterans Day ceremonies, which begin at 0900 at Spring Lake Heights Memorial Park and continue with a service at the Spring Lake Monument across from the Fire House at 1100, followed by a luncheon at the Spring Lake Manor. A LEGACY OF SERVICE The Spring Lake American Legion Post 432 was chartered in 1947 by WWII veterans, and many local residents and business owners are related to the forty founders of the Post. Names such as Marucci, Brown, Gaskin, Erbe, Patterson, Clayton, and Hurley are only some of the familiar names. From presenting the Colors at Memorial Day and Veterans Day services to commemorating 9/11, they stand as a pillar of honor and respect. Since 1947, they have educated the public on the care and respectful disposal of the American flag, all while creating moments that unite the community in remembrance and celebration of our nation’s heroes.

HONORING PAST AND FUTURE
Much like Veterans Day, the fishing contest is a way to honor the past while creating memories for the future. Post 432 remains committed to its mission of supporting veterans, fostering patriotism, and creating opportunities for youth to learn and grow through events like this. As we approach Veterans Day, find the time to pay tribute to those who have defended our freedoms and the families who stood by their side. FISHING TRADITION Each year, as trout season opens, Post 432 members set up their tents, measuring tables, and weigh scales to record the fishing stats for eager young anglers.
