FOCUS ON THE HAWKS
Fylde Hawks almost did the unthinkable last Saturday against the dominating team in the NOWIRUL Premier Division.
Caldy 2nds have totally dominated the NOWIRUL Premier Division in the last five years, as champions since 2018-19 and look as though they are a certain bet to emulate this once more in 2024- 25. Astonishingly, they haven’t lost a league game since 13th April 2019, a run of 96 consecutive league victories:

There can’t be many teams in community rugby in England that can match that degree of success.
They visited the Woodlands yesterday to face Fylde Hawks and had an enormous battle before edging it with a late score at 21-22. This was a tremendous performance by the Hawks and indicate how far the squad has come this season under Coach Steve Gough. Here’s Steve’s comments: “A monumental effort from the Hawks yesterday. The boys came with a plan and it paid off right up until the 79th minute! Through open running rugby and keeping the ball alive, we ran the legs off Caldy and the Hawks were the better team. There were a couple of critical decisions that went against the Hawks and that seemed to swing the game to the visitors. Massive credit to the adaptability of the lads with some playing out of position. We cannot dwell on this game. We move forward and get excited about the next one at home to Rossendale at the Woodlands this coming Saturday.”

They knew they had come within a late decision of winning that game and that’s hard for them to take! “They will bounce back next week though. We fed the fire again yesterday and it’s so pleasing to see that passion and enjoyment of playing from the lads.”
