English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) ESOL courses can be taken at different levels and is a good place to improve your English language skills for employment, education and general integration. YouthReach The Youthreach Programme provides two years integrated education, training and work experience for unemployed early school leavers without any
qualifications or vocational training who are between 15 and 20 years of age. The programme is run by ETBs and FS in Community Training Centres. Apprenticeships (Solas)
Apprenticeship is the recognised way people are trained in a craft trade or profession. The main trades and professions are designated by SOLAS. The training provides on-the-job training with an employer on the site and in an education centre. The training generally lasts between 2 to 4 years.
Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) VTOS provides a range of courses to meet the educational and training needs of unemployed people. Courses take up to two years and could lead to different qualifications. You must be over 21 years, have been on some types of Social Welfare Scheme for at least 6 months. The programme is operated through ETBs.
Community Employment Scheme (CE) The CE Scheme is designed to assist people who are long term unemployed to get back to employment by offering temporary and part-time placements in jobs based in the local communities. Participants can take part-time employment during placement to assist with critical skills and experience to access long term employment.
