Living in Ireland e-brochure

Quality and Qualification Ireland (QQI) is the independent State body established in 2012 and responsible for promoting quality and accountability in education and training services in Ireland and maintains the NFQ framework. Approved programmes are offered in a variety of schools, colleges, further and higher education and training institutions. FETAC is no longer in existence and has been replaced by QQI. Anytime you hear for example of FETAC Level 5, it now means QQI Level 5. National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) is the QQI service of academic advice on the recognition of foreign qualification in Ireland and Irish qualification abroad. NARIC does this through Comparability Statements on wholly completed qualifications. Note that if you have a third level from a foreign country, eg. Level 8, you cannot get State funding for the same level in Ireland.
