Electronic Prescriptions for Controlled Substances FAQ
What if I don’t acknowledge the request on my smart phone or tablet? The application will allow 30 seconds for you to acknowledge the prescription request on your device. If you do not acknowledge within that time window, you will be required to enter a numeric token value from the application on your device into Epic in order to electronically prescribe the controlled substances. Can all pharmacies accept electronic prescriptions for controlled substances? Not currently. If the receiving pharmacy does not accept electronically prescribed controlled substances, an error message will appear beneath the medication in the orders sidebar in Epic. The system will insteadprint these prescriptions, which require a hand-written signature. Can I enroll more than one device? Yes. You can enroll up to two (2) devices. For example, if you use a tablet when working clinically, you could choose to enroll your phone and your tablet. You must bring any device you wish to enroll to your enrollment session. What happens if I delete and reinstall the app or if I replace my smart device (phone or tablet)? For security purposes, this will require you to go through the in-person enrollment process again and to re-enroll your device. Who can I contact for questions? For any issues regarding Epic, please call the IS&T help desk at 513-585-MYPC (6972).
