Major water main work for Plantagenet neighbourhood

Construction outfits like to fill up their season calendar with contracts as soon as possible, so they tend to be more com- petitive with their bidding and that canwork in favour of the municipal capital budgets. The township’s $2.4million capital works portion of the 2018 budget for this year also includes three road upgrade projects, which amount to about 10 kilometres of paving work. They include a 2.3-kilometre section of Concession 1 and a 5.68-kilometre section of Concession 5, both in the Plantagenet areas, and a two-kilometre section of Con- cession 10 in the Village of Pendleton. This last one is along part of the border withThe NationMunicipality, so the twomunicipali- ties could share the total cost.
Certain streets in the Village of Plantagenet could be the site of major construction work later this year. Pending approval of an infrastructure subsidy application, Alfred-Plantagenet Township’s public works department may replace a 1.1-kilometre-long section of eight-inch cast-iron water main. Mais j’aimerais la garder ici. » Lamairesse Charlebois a fait remarquer que l’un des meilleurs arguments en appui aumaintien de La Résidence à Hawkesbury est la présence d’un hôpital entièrement équipé dans la ville. Les CUPR envisagent de remplacer l’ins- tallation de retraite pour personnes âgées puisque l’immeuble actuel ne respecte plus toutes les nouvelles normes du code provin- cial pour les maisons de retraite. Les comtés ont examiné et rejeté la rénovation du bâti- ment existant en faveur de la construction d’une nouvelle installation qui répond à tous les besoins actuels et potentiels de ses locataires.
Les choses en sont encore à l’état des négociations, mais Hawkesbury pourrait demeurer l’emplacement de La Résidence Prescott et Russell. Le procès-verbal de la séance à huis clos d’une réunion spéciale, tenue le 20 décembre 2017 par le conseil des Comtés unis de Prescott et Russell (CUPR), note que l’administration a reçu l’autorisation de poursuivre les négociations avec le pro- priétaire d’un emplacement dans la ville de Hawkesbury. En cas de succès, la propriété pourrait devenir le site de la nouvelle Rési- dence Prescott et Russell. Ni l’administration des comtés ni les membres du conseil des CUPR ne four- nissent d’autres détails pendant que les négociations se poursuivent. Cependant, la mairesse de Hawkesbury Jeanne Charlebois
