Siegwerk, Masterpress Unite To Improve Recyclability Siegwerk, global provider of printing inks and coatings for packaging applications and labels, has launched its first full UV flexo deinking system for the European market: CIRKIT CLEARPRIME UV E02. The new primer technolo- gy for non-food packaging applications offers a validated solution for safe and economic deinking of UV-printed self-adhesive labels (PSL), according to the company. Siegwerk ran a first field test of the deinking system with Masterpress, Białystok, Poland, a supplier of labels and printed decorative packaging solutions. Masterpress’ research and development (R&D) team used uncoated transparent or white pressure sensitive la- bels (PSL) made of PE85 and applied Siegwerk’s CIRKIT CLEARPRIME UV E02 followed by bleeding resistant UV flexo inks and an UV flexo OPV. First, the primer reportedly created a perfect adhesion between substrate and inks and later enabled full ink and varnish removal of the print- ed polyethylene (PE) film at standard deinking conditions based on the QT 507 washing protocol of the European PET Bottle Platform (EPBP). Exodus, a Romanian printing firm, has enhanced its pro- duction capabilities by installing the Nilpeter FA-17 press. This move marks a key shift from traditional sheetfed off- set technology to advanced flexographic methods. Historically rooted in offset printing, Exodus found this method increasingly insufficient to meet the evolving needs of its partners and the broader market. The stagna- tion in demand for conventional printing and a rising call for more specialized packaging and labels prompted this strategic shift. The installation of the Nilpeter FA-17 is a first for Exodus in both the flexo technology and Nilpeter brand arenas. Etival Mexico Installs P7 Flexo Press Etival Mexico, a provider of flexographic labels and shrink sleeves, has installed a Mark Andy 17-inch P7 flexo press. Etival Mexico, established on September 12, 2016, by Jose Luis Ceballos Uribe and Jose Alfredo Jimienez, has been at the forefront of flexographic printing, according to the company. Etival Mexico’s facility spans 1,600 square meters and employs 52 professionals.
