JUBILEE PILGRIMAGE
Also known as the Holy Year, the Jubilee is an extraordinary and so - lemn event of the Catholic Church that occurs every 25 years. This special year is dedicated to recon- ciliation, conversion and spiritu- al renewal, offering the faithful an opportunity to receive the plenary indulgence. The Jubilee of 2025 began on 24 th December 2024 and will last until 6 th January 2026. It will be the second Jubilee presided over by Pope Francis, following the extraordinary Jubilee of 2015 dedi - cated to mercy. One of the most significant mo - ments of the Jubilee is the ope - ning of the Holy Door, a rite that’s rich in symbolism. The Door is se- aled at the end of each Jubilee and reopened only for the next one. Pa- ssing through it represents a tan- gible sign of conversion and the journey toward salvation. The ope- ning rite begins with the Holy Door of St. Peter’s, followed by the ope-

PETER’S BASILICA - St. Peter’s Basilica was one of the greatest construction feats of the Renaissance, representing one of the greatest structures ever bu- ilt by human hand. It is the most important Catholic Church on Ear- th, and one of Rome’s most reco- gnisable buildings. The basilica’s elaborate dome stands out in the Eternal City’s skyline – serving as a compass for all who wander Ro- me’s streets. - St. Peter was in Rome during the reign of Emperor Nero in A.D. 64, following the death of Christ. It wasn’t a very convenient time, considering that the emperor had just blamed the Christians for a fi - re that destroyed half the city. Ac- cording to the dogma, St. Peter,
