SETTING THE STANDARD IN OIL-WATER SEPARATION WHY CLEAN RESOURCES?
1 Do you have an air compressor? Then you need a Clean Resources Oil-Water Separator because you are out of Federal, State, and local regulations in all 50 states.
2 Will your system work with our lubricant type? Yes, Clean Resources separators are compatible with all manufacturers.
3 I have an OWS on my current system. Simply put, it doesn’t work. Clean Resources makes the only system that exceeds all standards for the entire life of the product, not just at start-up. 4 W e collect our condensate and have it hauled away with our other waste. Well, you are having your money hauled away, too. By installing a Clean Resources system, you will be saving about 90% of the cost.* 5 W e have our in-house treatment system process the condensate. A Clean Resources system is still a much more economical solution. Oil is very taxing on treatment systems. 6 How many compressors do you have and what HP? • Compressor 1:______ HP • Compressor 2:______ HP • Compressor 3:______ HP • Compressor 4:______ HP
• Compressor 5:______ HP • Compressor 6:______ HP
* According to Plant Engineering, transportation, storage, and disposal costs can exceed $500 per 55-gallon drum of condensate.

COMPRESSED AIR BASICS
DID YOU KNOW ...
1 What is an Industrial Compressed Air System? An Industrial Compressed Air System is simply an air compressor. Most industrial systems typically include other downstream components, such as air dryers, air storage tanks, and a series of filters, all of which can create and pass through oil and chemical-laced condensate.
A compressor can produce up to 1,000 gallons of oily condensate per day. ?

2 Condensate — What is it? Condensate is the polluted water by-product of an air compressor that contains harmful oil and chemical elements. The EPA classifies compressor condensate as ‘Used oil containing PCBs.’ This condensate MUST be collected and cannot be allowed into the environment or put into public sewer systems without being treated.
One gallon of lubricant can contaminate up to 4 Acres of groundwater!
4 A dvantages of a Clean Resources Oil-Water Separator
3 Why is an Oil-Water Separator Needed?
The EPA and Clean Water Act mandate condensate discharge to be 50 parts per million (ppm) or less. The average compressor condensate contains a minimum of 300 ppm of oil. All Compressed Air Systems MUST have an oil-water separator.
> Compliance Guaranteed • Exceeds all standards for the product’s entire life, not just at start-up. • Works with ALL lubricant types, including polyglycol, silicone, and synthetic oils. • Only system that guarantees EPA Compliance for the life of the unit.
> Maintenance Free • Simple to install • Requires near-zero maintenance
> Cost Effective • Treat condensate onsite • Save 90% of the cost of hauling away condensate for treatment

SETTING THE STANDARD IN OIL-WATER SEPARATION OIL-WATER SEPARATOR BASICS
WHAT
WHY
is an Oil-Water Separator?
are Oil-Water Separators important?
All compressed air systems produce condensate as a normal part of their operation. This condensate contains oil and other contaminants and must be treated before it can be released into the environment or put into public drains. Oil-Water Separators remove these contaminants, making the condensate suitable for discharge.
Compressor condensate contains harmful oil and chemical elements that pose a significant threat to natural waterways and drinking water sources. It must not be released into the environment or public sewer systems without adequate processing. Federal, State, and local agencies, including the EPA, strictly regulate compressor condensate, requiring proper collection and treatment before disposal.
A 100 HP Compressor may produce up to 1,000 gallons of oily condensate per day in humid conditions.

WHO
HOW
needs an Oil-Water Separator?
can a Clean Resources Oil-Water Separator help?
Industrial compressed air systems can be composed of air compressors, filters, dryers, and air receivers, all of which produce contaminated effluent that needs to be treated. Compressed air is used everywhere, and every one of these systems needs an Oil-Water Separator.
• Simple to install with near-zero maintenance required. • Resists mold buildup that can clog other systems. • Exceeds all removal standards for the life of the product. • Guarantees EPA Compliance for the life of the product. • Works with all lubricants including synthetics and polyglycols. • Save 90% of the cost of hauling away oily waste for processing.*
Compressed air is often called the fourth utility because it’s a vital energy source for many industries, similar to electricity, water, and gas.
Regulatory limits can be as low as 10 ppm, a standard only Clean Resources Oil-Water Separators can achieve.

TOPIC EPA COMPLIANCE IS GUARANTEED! REGULATIONS
DID YOU KNOW ...
1 The Situation • 80 to 85 percent of all U.S. companies using compressed air are out of EPA compliance. • Many companies are unaware of this problem. • More than a million gallons of oil are illegally leaked into the ground and storm drains daily, contaminating millions of gallons of groundwater .
One gallon of lubricant can contaminate up to 4 Acres of groundwater!
2 Typical Concentration vs Discharge Limit
10x
Typical Concentrations • Many new compressors tend to have 1 – 2 ppm oil carryover.
EPA Discharge Limit • The Federal EPA limit is 50 ppm. • Each state and local municipality can determine its own allowable discharge limit. • The typical limit for states with coastal waters, lakes, and large rivers is 15 ppm or less.
Most lubricants are not visible in water unless concentrations are greater than 500 ppm. That’s more than 10 times the typical regulatory limit!
• Be careful! That’s the oil-to-air ratio. • When compressed into liquid condensate, that 1 – 2 ppm becomes 300 ppm or more .
3 Penalties for Violating EPA Regulations
Chicago, Los Angeles, and New Orleans all have a maximum 15 ppm oil carryover in condensate discharge water. 15 ppm
Negligent Violations: First conviction: 1 year in jail and/or $2,500 – $25,000 per day Subsequent convictions: 2 years in jail and/or $50,000 per day
Knowing Violations: First conviction: 3 years in jail and/or $5,000 – $50,000 per day Subsequent convictions: 6 years in jail and/or $100,000 per day
* According to the EPA’s website, under the Clean Water Act and Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations

TOPIC MAINTAIN A SAFE WORKING ENVIRONMENT SAFETY
DID YOU KNOW ...
1 The Situation Some competitor oil-water separators (OWS) require frequent media bag changeouts to maintain efficiency. These separators tend to spill oil on the ground or floor, creating a safety issue. • Bag changes are messy, resulting in slick floors, slip-and-fall danger, and potential lawsuits. • Algae and mold can form, risking the health and safety of your technicians. In a slip-and-fall situation, OSHA may be called in to investigate. If oil from a bag-style OWS spills oil on the ground or into a drain, they may notify the EPA, which could result in hefty fines.
Clean Resources proprietary media bonds with lubricants, ensuring no oil will be released into your workplace or the environment over time.
2 The Clean Resources Solution Clean Resources Oil-Water Separators are engineered to resist or eliminate problems that can lead to OSHA or EPA involvement. • The bag-free, disposable design eliminates the need for messy media changeouts. Simply swap out the spent drum for a new one. • Our antimicrobial media resists algae and mold buildup, making day-to-day operation safer for everyone. • Free recycling makes disposing of the old media safe and easy.
Dangerous black mold can form in your system, resulting in illness, downtime, and worker’s comp claims. Clean Resources proprietary media resists mold and algae formation.

1 The Situation When properly sized, a Clean Resources Oil-Water Separator running 8,000 hours per year is guaranteed EPA compliant for 12 months . When the unit has reached its end-of-life, how do you safely and environmentally dispose of it?
2 Free Recycling Program There are two options to dispose of a spent unit: 1. Smart Green™ Initiative The only product on the market to offer an environmentally friendly end-of-life solution. • Go to recycleoilsep.com and create an RMA • Ship the unit to Clean Resources for free recycling Spent units are shipped as non-hazardous special waste. The containers and components are recycled and repurposed, reducing the global footprint.
All Clean Resources Oil-Water Separators are guaranteed to reduce lubricants to 10 ppm or less. EPA Compliance is guaranteed!
2. Dispose Locally Dispose of at your local waste management facility or landfill as non-hazardous waste. • The media is engineered to permanently bond all lubricants, ensuring no release of material into the environment over time.
Clean Resources Oil-Water Separators work with all compressor fluids, including Polyglycol and Silicone.
3 Why Else Should You Use Clean Resources Oil-Water Separators?
> Unique Sizes • External/Internal decompression chamber • No “upsizing” required • Small footprint • Unmatched gallons-per-minute performance > Maintenance Free • Never open the unit • No pumps, sensors, or pre-separation filter pads • Not susceptible to mold • No messy filter/bags/elements to change (zero cost)
> Easy Installation and Changeout • Prime unit and run condensate lines directly into the unit • Saves time and mess for service • When end of life is reached, replace with a new unit
