WHO STUDIES ABROAD WITH CET?
IDENTITY IN THE CLASSROOM AND BEYOND CET sends over 1,500 students abroad each year. We strive to create and maintain programs that support students of all races, religions, abilities, gender identities, and sexual orientations. The demographic makeup of CET students varies by program, but we are proud to say that our student population overall is more diverse than the national study abroad average. Want to integrate the study of identity into your study abroad experience? Some CET programs have courses that explore these themes from a local lens. Here are a few for inspiration: • CET Colombia: Race, Ethnicity, & Identity through an Afro-Colombian Lens • CET Brazil: Social Justice & Inequality PROGRAMS ON IDENTITY COURSES ON IDENTITY • Taiwan: Gender & Sexuality in Taiwan • Jordan: Marginalization & Discrimination in the Arab World • Prague: Jewish Life in Contemporary Europe

“As I continue to reflect on my time in Jordan, I realize that each and every part of all my identities were affected one way or another and that it’s important to acknowledge the experiences that go along with them. Being biracial is not black and white, and neither are our other identities. There are many factors affecting how we are perceived beyond the images we have of ourselves, and it’s okay to embrace them while also questioning them.” — Anonymous final evaluation, CET Jordan
