The Word of Life Experience: Spring 2025

Reaching This Generation with the gospel

From the very beginning, Word of Life’s heartbeat has been to equip young people to share the gospel with their own generation in creative and relevant ways. Take a look at two amazing avenues in which the gospel has been carried! t h e G o s p e l

Soccer Ministry One of the most unexpected platforms for the gospel has been the soccer field. When Word of Life Bible Insti- tute hosted Central Maine Community College, the eventual USCAA national champions, it was more than just a soccer match. Despite a hard-fought 2–0 loss, both teams gathered at midfield after the game, where a WOLBI player shared his testimony, followed by a clear gospel presentation and prayer. Instead of heading out for their seven- hour drive, Central Maine’s players stayed to talk with WOLBI’s team and coaches – some for nearly an hour. By the end of the night, four players made decisions for Christ, and three expressed interest in attending WOLBI. The impact didn’t end there. At the conference tournament, the teams reconnected, cheering each other on in their respective semifinal matches. Though WOLBI lost their game 3–2, Central Maine’s athletic director shared, "You guys do things the right way. I’ve never seen a classier team." This unforgettable moment was a testament to WOLBI’s Christ-cen- tered sportsmanship and bold witness, proving that sports can be a powerful tool for eternal impact. This season, WOLBI’s soccer team shared the gospel with 222 opposing players, and 13 made decisions for Christ. Over the past three years, more than 40 players have come to faith through the team’s ministry. Soccer has become more than a game; it’s a platform for life-changing impact as the team faithfully represents Christ both on and off the field.
