The MyGolfLife platform was the first of its kind in South Africa, and arguably the world. It rewards its members for participating in various activities in their golfing ecosystems – store spending, practice, game improvement, play and travel. It adds value to their golfing journeys. MGL and the Sunshine Tour have identical objectives to elevate and enhance the brand of golf among the public. Creating platforms where SA pros can be celebrated, followed, and supported, and environments for players and fans alike where they can improve their games and get closer to the action. The first MyGolfLife Open in 2022 saw a three-man playoff for the title with Pablo Larrazabal beating fellow Spaniard Adri Arnaus and England’s Jordan Smith at the second extra hole after they had tied on 22-under-par 266. The first round saw four scores of 62. Limpopo pro Hennie du Plessis opened 62-65 and led for 54 holes into the final round before closing with a 72 which left him T-6 on 19-under.

Pecanwood. It was a stunning success, and Pecanwood Estate and its Jack Nicklaus Signature Course will again be the venue for the second 72-hole MyGolfLife Open starting on January 30, 2025. This time it will be a co-sanctioned Sunshine Tour event with the European Challenge Tour, the second of four such tournaments in January and February. Pecanwood and its residents will again be in festive mode for the tournament. It’s a friendly flat course to walk for spectators. The inaugural March 2022 MyGolfLife Open featured a party hole, the dramatic par-3 13th on a bay of the Hartbeespoort Dam, where there was music and anchored boats and kayaks. There was a vibey scene at the nearby Boat House where local bands performed, and golf clinics for local children. Golf in South Africa faces challenges of engagement and participation, and MyGolfLife, together with its partners, has developed and created ways to increase engagement among golfers and boost participation levels.
