10 YEARS WITH DP WORLD TOUR This is the 10th year that the Nedbank Challenge, known as Africa’s “Major,” has been part of the DP World Tour. The first was in 2013 with 30 players, won by Thomas Bjorn, and the size of the field in- creased to 72 in 2016 when it became part of the Race to Dubai Playoffs. The biggest field was 74 in 2017. There has only been one South African win- ner in that time, Branden Grace in 2017. Total prize money the past nine years has been 61 million euros, or over a billion rand. This year will be the first since 2015 to be played in December, which was its original date. The NGC is the middle event of the DP World Tour’s 2025 Opening Swing of five tourna- ments, and will be followed by the Alfred Dunhill Championship and AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
