part of a joint venture with the Dubai government. The resulting Dugas Project aimed to profit from the natural gas flared from Dubai’s oilfields. Mr. Morimoto started as a consultant overseeing the design of the Dugas plant, but soon moved up to Vice-President of Scimitar, where he was responsible for the plant’s engineering and operations. As production in the oilfields soared, Dugas produced 30,000 barrels a day of propane and butane and 150 million standard cubic feet of dry gas. The Dugas Project and Scimitar Oils were an international success. Mr. Morimoto retired from Scimitar in 1987. He wrote a memoir chronicling
