Get set for IBC2024
AI is also in focus in numerous other sessions across both conference tracks. On 13 September, Alain Nochimowski, CTO, Viaccess-Orca; Alexandre Rouxel, Sr Project Manager, Data and AI, European Broadcasting Union; and Yuki Yasuda, Researcher, NHK, will present their Technical Papers on the application of AI to media production. On 15 September, ‘AI in Action’ will see Huma Lodhi, Principal Machine Learning Engineer, Sky; Chris Jackson, Global Head of Digital Data and Analytics, Olympic Channel; and Hardeep Dhaliwal, Head of Data Capability, ITV, sharing case studies that provide a deep dive into AI’s real-world applications and how it is optimising operations and unlocking new business opportunities. Other highlights include Grace Boswood, Technology Director, Channel 4; Cristina Gomila, MD, Content Technology & Innovation, Sky; and Sinead Greenaway, Director Broadcast and End User Technology, BBC, offering insights into how their approach to tech innovation and development is impacted by commercial, operating and strategic considerations. In this extended session, entitled ‘Building the Future of Tech’, the three panellists will also offer a deep dive into their customer base, the evolution of their operating and broadcast models and their impact on demand for technology.
IBC Conference For those wanting to learn more about the key trends and discussion points impacting the media and entertainment space, the extended IBC Conference is a must-attend event. Running from 13-15 September, it will once again deliver a captivating and wide-ranging programme of sessions, designed to address all of the current challenges in the ever- evolving media and broadcast landscape. Sessions will cover M&A activity, news, live sports, FAST, gaming and much more. Keynote sessions will be delivered by independent consultant Benedict Evans along with WPP’s Andy Hood and Builder.ai’s Sachal Dev Duggal. In a session on 13 September entitled ‘Navigating a Changing Media Landscape AI and Everything Else’, Evans will discuss how the convergence of immersive technologies, AI, connectivity and personalised content experiences is shaping an era where the industry has the potential to not only capture attention but to shape a new media landscape in a world driven by constant change. The following day, Hood and Duggal will explore why the future lies in human-machine collaboration. They will look at the ways in which AI opens new possibilities for experimental creativity by enabling creators to explore unconventional ideas, styles and techniques, while also considering how we can ensure a fair and ethical approach.
IBC2024 is set to welcome more than 1250 exhibitors to RAI Amsterdam from 13-16 September. From major names such as AWS, Sony, Blackmagic, Canon and Ross to first-time exhibitors including Media-press.tv, Strada, G&L and CaptionHub, visitors are guaranteed to see the very latest innovations from across the entire media and entertainment landscape. AI technology is, of course, set to feature on the stands of many exhibitors, particularly in the all-new AI Tech Zone. Situated in Hall 14 and powered by the EBU, this dedicated area will host industry leaders and visionaries, offering the opportunity to get hands on with the latest AI innovations and learn from those at the forefront of this exciting technology. Exhibitors in this space include Wasabi Technologies, VionLabs, Eluvio, Imaginario, The Weather Company, AI4ME, Zaibr, Video.Taxi, MobiusLabs, Magnifi, AudioShake, Videolinq.ai and DOT Group. Taking to the AI Tech Stage will be Francois Lavoir, Senior EU Policy Advisor at the EBU; Matthew Blakemore, CEO, Al Caramba!; and Cesar Pena, Project Manager, RTVE Innovation Media Lab, among others.
