INDUSTRY EVENTS Tackle critical media challenges at the IBC Conference

This will be followed by a series of short fireside chats looking at tech innovation in digital media and broadcast. Grace Boswood, Technology Director at Channel 4; Cristina Gomila, Managing Director of Content Technology & Innovation at Sky; and Sinead Greenaway, Director of Broadcast and End User Technology at the BBC, will share their experiences before all three join a panel entitled ‘Building the Future of Tech’. This will take a deep dive into each one’s customer base and explore the evolution of operating and broadcast models and their impact on the demand for technology. Business models are also in focus later in the day when Kerry Ball, Chief Commercial & Strategy Officer, BritBox International; Vanda Rapti, EVP, Viaplay Select & Content Distribution, Viaplay Group; Manish Karla, Chief Business Officer, Zee5; and David Salmon, EVP and Managing Director, International, Tubi, take to the stage to ask ‘Where Next? Innovating broadcast operating business models’. This will consider where and how broadcasters and media players can innovate when their audiences are behaving so unpredictably and where they should focus strategically and practically.

Throughout the three days, sessions will take a deep dive into issues and themes relating to IBC2024’s three core pillars: Transformative Technology, Shifting Business Models, and People and Purpose, all while focusing on the critical trends and technologies redefining the media landscape. After an opening session from the IABM during which Head of Knowledge, Chris Evans and CTO, Stan Moote will share insights that will empower delegates to navigate the rapidly evolving new media landscape and identify the business trends that matter, Benedict Evans, an internationally renowned media and technology analyst who has worked with Orange, Channel 4 and NBC Universal, will deliver the show’s first keynote. ‘Navigating a Changing Media Landscape: AI and everything else’ will explore how disruption has become the new normal in the media and entertainment ecosystem. It will look at how immersive technologies, AI, new connectivity, personalised content experiences and other developments are reshaping M&E.

The IBC Conference, running from 13-15 September at the RAI Amsterdam, is set to welcome a whole host of thought leaders and innovators from across the media, entertainment and technology industry.
