Introduction 5G-EMERGE is a satellite focused, 5G-based, hybrid network ecosystem optimised for media distribution. The aim is to seamlessly feed distributed edges over satellites (with or without return channel), 5G networks and other terrestrial networks. This should enable service providers to deliver video streaming services at scale and cost-effectively, whilst improving user experience across a plethora of use- cases. This emerging ecosystem is based on a native-IP hybrid infrastructure and on open standards, allowing end-users to seamlessly consume their desired content from a local edge cache via satellite, 5G or broadband link.
