Ledburn Cables welcomes new ownership as it targets growth

What products & services does it provide?

Dublin-based electrical wholesaler Ledburn Cables has new ownership in place after Director Keith Hendrick completed a management buyout of the business in February. Well-established in the Republic of Ireland, the business stocks a full range of data and security, fire, control, house wiring, power, digital TV and satellite multi vision cable. Its 25,000sqft premises is equipped with six cutting machines and lifting equipment handling up to six tonnes. Founded in 2005 by David Blagburn and Jack Ledwidge, the company has built a reputation for best-in-class service and reliability driven by its key relationships with trusted suppliers; core values it will maintain under its new ownership. Starting his career as a graduate management trainee in an electrical wholesaler before moving into commercial roles, Keith joined Ledburn Cables in 2022 as general manager with responsibility of running all aspects of the business. Marking a new chapter aimed at securing the continued development

of the business, the buyout saw Jack Ledwidge retiring from the business while David Blagburn will continue in his role managing purchasing and financial operations. Talking to Ireland’s Electrical Magazine, Keith outlines his plans for development of the business: Tell us about Ledburn Cables Ledburn was established 20 years ago by Dave Blagburn and Jack Ledwidge. It is a customer-focused and electrical wholesale-only business, which it has always maintained through to today. We operate out of a 25,000sqft premises. We have developed strong relationships with a number of key suppliers over the years, which enables us to provide a quality range of products to our customers. What prompted the management buyout of Ledburn Cables? Continuity - we wanted the business to continue and develop as is. Myself, Jack and Dave looked at what’s possible and decided an MBO was the best course of action, both personally and for the business’s development and growth.

We supply a wide range of cables from data to fire and power. Our route to market is wholesale only and we supply the Republic of Ireland and are hoping to

expand to Northern Ireland. What is Ledburn Cable’s USP?

Service and breath of product. We truly believe we offer the best service in the market. Have any new ranges or brands been added to your portfolio? We are working on several new complementary products to our current ranges which we hope to launch by Q3 of this year. We have already added lines such as PV/EV cable. Does the business have any further plans for expansion or investment in 2025? Yes, we hope to expand into Northern Ireland, and we are currently investing in our premises and people so we can offer an even better service and product offering to our customers.
