Irish-owned multinational Ei Electronics has appointed Leo Clancy as its incoming chief executive officer, taking up the role on April 1. An electronics engineer with a distinguished track record in leadership and technology, Leo is succeeding Mick Guinee, who stood down as CEO on March 31 after four decades leading the business. Instrumental in transforming Ei Electronics into a world-class manufacturer of fire and home safety products with global annual sales of €425m, Mick will continue to play a key role in the company’s strategic direction as chairman of the Board. Most recently CEO of Enterprise Ireland for four years, Leo’s extensive experience in fostering innovation and driving international growth for Irish companies aligns with Ei Electronics’ strategic objectives. Prior positions include head of technology at the IDA, global roles and general manager of service delivery for Ericsson Ireland, and service delivery director for Limerick-based public-private partnership e-net. “I am honoured to succeed Mick Guinee as CEO of Ei Electronics,” said Leo. “Mick’s legacy is extraordinary, and Ei is an incredible Irish success story. A world leader in home life safety devices
Ei Electronics is eager to hear from collaborative engineers keen to work with one of Ireland’s most innovative and successful technology companies. With products engineered around sensors enabling Ei to become a world leader in development of home life safety devices, the company is expanding its R&D function. Dr David Richardson has recently been appointed Ei Group head of R&D and is aiming to expand its team of 30 engineers at the Shannon campus. A graduate of UL and the University of Galway, he joined Ei Electronics as
a chemical and sensor technologist in August 2015 and was promoted to the position of senior technologist in April 2018. Further new appointments this year have spanned engineering disciplines including, embedded software, automation controls, cloud software and product design. The R&D laboratory boasts a suite of high- tech testing facilities, including echo-free or anechoic chambers, 3-D printers for prototype development, smoke tunnel testing equipment, radio mesh network testers and power analysers for testing electronics.
