Joanne Cluxton from Mercury Engineering was named as president at a joint AGM of ECA and the Mechanical Engineering & Building Services Contractors Association (MEBSCA), held in the Dublin base of the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) on January 23. It was followed by the AGM of the Mechanical and Electrical Contractors Association (M&ECA). With the appointment a historical event for CIF’s mechanical and electrical sector, the Association would like to wish Joanne the very best for her tenure

as president over the next two years. Eamonn Thornton from CJK was named vice president of ECA, while Sean Greally from Designer Group stepped down as chair of M&ECA and president of ECA, taking on the role of immediate past president for 2025. MEBSCA business saw Paul Nicholls from Designer Group re-elected to the role of president and Mark Hodson from Laminar Engineering as vice president, with Eamon McGrattan from CJK remaining in the role of immediate past president.

M&ECA and ECA would like to express their gratitude to Sean Greally for his dedication to the work of both associations. During 2023 and 2024, Sean made a major contribution to the work of both the ECA and M&ECA on a broad range of policy issues impacting the mechanical and electrical industries. Thankfully, through strong leadership, the associations continue to work collaboratively for the good of all their members and the entire industry. As is customary, the chair of M&ECA rotates on a yearly basis between the presidents of ECA and MEBSCA. The role was taken over by Paul Nicholls for 2025, and the association would like to wish Paul the best for the upcoming year in this role. Following the formalities of both AGMs, M&ECA members were invited to attend the M&ECA Annual Dinner in FX Buckley Steakhouse, Dublin 2.
