New work categories and qualifications covering EV charging equipment, solar PV and electrical energy storage system installations are included in the latest Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) Qualifications Guide covering Northern Ireland. NEW GUIDE UPDATES THE ELECTROTECHNICAL ASSESSMENT SPECIFICATION

The Electrotechnical Skills Partnership (TESP) has worked with the EAS Management Committee to update the Guide, following release of the latest EAS in October 2024.

Some of the new qualification additions have also achieved the Electrician Plus kitemark and are listed on the TESP website as industry approved in terms of entry requirements, content and assessment, helping to ensure installations are carried out competently and safely. The TESP website will host any new qualifications approved before the next edition of the EAS Qualifications Guide is published. A Level 3 Certificate in Installing, Testing and Ensuring Compliance of Electrical Installations in Dwellings issued by LCL Awards will no longer be acceptable for new applicants from January 1, 2026. Other updates made to the EAS Qualifications Guide include new guidance around insufficient qualifications and qualifications obtained outside the UK. www.the-esp.org.uk
