Homeowners in Hawkesbury can take part in a pilot project to demonstrate how useful a new food recycling device is for the home. “It’s a great program,” said Mayor Robert -FGFCWSF EVSJOHBQIPOFJOUFSWJFXi8F have one of these at the town hall and it is amazing.” The mayor referred to the FoodCycler, a compact food recycler that reduces waste food, without causing food odours. Represen- tatives for Food Cycle Science met with Hawkesbury council last month to ask the town to take part in the company’s pilot project to introduce the device for home use and also collection information from homeowners on how the machine helps reduce the amount of their household gar- bage through recycling of food scraps. Food Cycle Science already has more than 100 municipalities involved in its Food Cycler QJMPUQSPKFDU JODMVEJOH&BTU)BXLFTCVSZ Township and the City of Clarence-Rockland. The company received a $400,000 Impact Canada grant to help reduce the cost to residents who participate in the pilot project.

The pilot project begins January 2024 and lasts for 12 weeks. Residents who take part will receive a kit with tracking sheets and directions on how to provide information on their use of and satisfaction with the Food- Cycler. Le bridge est l’un des jeux de cartes récréatifs les plus populaires au monde et les aînés locaux qui aiment ce jeu auront maintenant un nouvel endroit pour leurs séances de bridge nocturnes. Le conseil municipal de Hawkesbury a approuvé, le 16 octobre, un rapport adminis- tratif contenant des recommandations visant ÆQFSNFUUSFBV)BXLFTCVSZ#SJEHF$MVC d’utiliser la salle communautaire du Robert Hartley Sports Complex pour les sessions de bridge hebdomadaires des membres et d’y entreposer les tables, les chaises et les autres accessoires du club. Les membres du club ont rencontré le conseil municipal en septembre pour lui demander de les aider à trouver un nouvel endroit où tenir leurs sessions de bridge hebdomadaires. Le club a fonctionné dans le bâtiment de l’école Saint-Jean Bosco au cours des dernières années, mais ce bâtiment est maintenant mis en vente et le club a dû trouver un nouvel endroit où les membres peuvent jouer.
