Affordability, improving in- frastructure and access to jobs were driving the boom, along with a resurgence in Victor- ia’s first-home buyer sector sparked by state government incentives. MELBOURNE’S “ugly-duck- ing” outer west and north are leading the nation for house price growth, recording gains of up to 33 per cent in a year. This is the finding of a new Hotspotting report, which lauds the Wyndam, Melton, Hume and Whittlesea areas, as well as Casey in the outer southeast, as the best-per- forming boomtowns in a Melbourne market that’s otherwise “past its peak”. Hotspotting founder Terry Ryder said the regions were also top performers on the i l i h “ much every suburb in each” notching double-digit house price growth in the past year — well above the citywide average of 4.9 per cent and Australia-wide 0.7 per cent reported in this week’s Core- Logic Home Values Index. Notable stars were Tho- mastown in Whittlesea, with 33 per cent annual gains, Broadmeadows in Hume, 29 per cent, and the Melton region’s Melton and Melton South, both 27 per cent. Th i l k d
