The Lakes South Morang College Issue 20

Our Year 10 students concluded their year with a memorable sleepover to mark the end of their final day in Year 10. This experience was not only a fun way to build camaraderie among peers but also a key part of their transition into Year 11. As they embark on their Step - Up Program, they embrace the challenge of becoming the future leaders of our school. Through this experience, they demonstrate Learning by stepping out of their comfort zones and developing important study skills and strategies, and show Respect as they learn to balance the demands of academic life with their personal growth. Another exciting moment for the College was the College Captain and Vice Captain interviews, held across both our Primary and Secondary Campuses. This process highlighted the importance of Leadership and Teamwork as students showcased their vision for the school and their commitment to representing their peers. The interviews also reflect our commitment to fostering responsible, capable leaders who are ready to serve and guide our school community with respect and care. As this is the last formal newsletter of the year, it ’ s an opportune time to celebrate the growth we ’ ve seen throughout the year. This year has been defined by our shared commitment to Learning , Leadership , Teamwork , and Respect . Our students have excelled in their learning journeys, and our staff have demonstrated continued professional development to ensure we are providing the best possible opportunities for all. Our facilities have been

upgraded to create an environment that supports innovation and engagement, and our School Council has worked tirelessly to strengthen community connections, further enhancing the support network for both students and families. While we have accomplished so much this year, there is still much to look forward to. Events such as: Under the Stars; Year 9’ s Amazing Race in Melbourne, Naarm; Team Dream performances; the Year 6 Graduation; Year 7 Orientation Day and Transition Week; Funfields excursions; Meet the Teachers; and our Awards Night are all on the horizon. These events provide additional opportunities for our students to demonstrate the values we hold dear, as they celebrate achievements and forge deeper connections within the College community. Looking ahead, we will conclude the year by celebrating our students ’ hard work and achievements in the final edition of our newsletter, which will feature all award winners and proudly announce our 2025 College Captains. Thank you to everyone in our community for contributing to an outstanding year. Together, we have created an environment where students are encouraged to grow, lead, collaborate, and respect one another. We look forward to finishing the year strong and celebrating all that we have achieved together.
