The Lakes South Morang College Issue 20

The Lakes South Morang College Newsletter COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

The 2024 Colour Run was an unforgettable event, filled with excitement, laughter, and a lot of messy fun! As Primary SRC students, we had the opportunity to participate in this special event and raise funds for The Lakes while having an amazing time. One of the funniest and most exciting moments was watching Ms Lee, Mr Abney - Hastings, Mr Taylor and Ms Price get slimed with all different coloured slimes! It was both hilarious and gross as they were drenched in neon green, pink, yellow, and blue slime – but everyone couldn ’ t stop laughing. The sliming was a highlight of the day, especially seeing Ms Price trying to eat her sausage in bread whilst getting slimed and seeing Mr Abney - Hastings scream when he got slimed. Not only did we have an awesome time getting messy, but we also managed to raise a huge amount of money for The Lakes – $10,500! It felt amazing knowing that we were able to contribute to our school while having such a blast. The funds raised will go towards improving our school, which is something we can all be proud of, as part of our Lakes values of school pride. We couldn ’ t have done it without the support of the Year 10 students, Lexi R and Ben M, who helped the younger students during the event.

They made sure everyone was safe, encouraged us to keep going, and made the day even more enjoyable. It was great to have such positive role models helping out. The sausage sizzle was another great part of the day, and it was fantastic to raise over $100 from it. Thanks to Mr Collins and Mr Sarlos for running the BBQ. Mr Zebrowski and Ms Solaja did a great job at taking photos of all the students getting coloured and slimed! Look out for our photos on our Lakes social media websites. To top it all off, Monty the Monster came to visit, adding a fun surprise element to the event. The highlight of Monty ’ s visit was the foam bubble machine, which was a huge hit with all of us. The bubbles created a magical atmosphere, and it felt like we were running through a cloud of foam while we were covered in colorful slime. Overall, the 2024 Colour Run was an exciting and unforgettable experience, and it was so much fun to be a part of an event that brought the whole school together for a great cause. We can ’ t wait to do it all again next year!
