Box Handbook. A pallet overhang is when a pallet does not support two to three corners of a box. This project aimed to study historical box overhang data that FBA wanted to under- stand better. The overhang testing with a single box used eight levels ranging from 0-3” overhang on the short, long, and adjacent sides and tested 1,680 boxes. Two overhang levels of 0 and 1” were tested with the complete layers of boxes. The testing indicated that box strength decreased with increasing overhang, as expected.
