Don’t Let Time Pass You By The Value of a Single Day

Sometimes, time flies by because of the many roles and hats you wear every day. If that’s the case, give yourself a moment to stop what you’re doing and focus on your breathing. I’m a big fan of this, and it helps me center my focus and re-orient myself. It’s easy to get bogged down and overwhelmed with everything I have to do in a day. So, never be afraid to take some time to get yourself acclimated before you dive into your responsibilities. To further help you when you’re feeling overwhelmed, break down your tasks or goals into smaller, bite-sized pieces so they don’t seem as intimidating. Think about what you can complete in a day, hour, or even minute. When you start dividing your workload into smaller and more digestible chunks, you can maximize your time and get the most out of each day.

Last month, time “fell back”. Whenever the clocks change, it seems to take us a few days or weeks to adjust. I still can’t get over the feeling I get when it’s around 5 p.m. in the evening and it’s getting dark. It sometimes looks like 10 p.m., and I always find myself immediately looking at my phone, computer, or watch to check the time. When I do, it’s only 6 p.m. While it’s great to feel like we’re getting an extra hour of sleep at first, seeing the sun set earlier may make some of us feel like there isn’t enough time in the day. As the days feel shorter, now is the best time to discuss the value of a single day and what you can accomplish within that time. The best advice I can give you is to be thankful you get the chance to see the next day. Tomorrow is never promised, so it’s vital to live life to the fullest every day, to always chase your dream, and never fear the unknown. Even if each day seems shorter, take steps to accomplish your goals and make every moment count.

If you focus on how busy you are and how there isn’t enough time in the day for you to complete your tasks, the holiday can pass you by. You may be worried about how to create the best Christmas for you and your family around this time. Instead of focusing on the materialistic aspects of Christmas, focus on the true meaning of Christmas: time with your loved ones. Over the past few years, you may have feared you wouldn’t be able to gather with your loved ones due to the pandemic and other health issues. But now is your chance to spend that much-needed time with your family and friends. The memories you all create will last longer than any gift or decoration. Each day is a blessing, and our time together is valuable. Always remember, while the shortest day of the year is Dec. 21, soon after, the days will begin to feel longer. The next thing you know, we will be springing ahead. I hope you and your loved ones have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. I look forward to seeing you all in 2023.

On top of busy work schedules and family responsibilities, Christmas is also this month.

3 WAYS TO ESTATE PLAN OVER THE Discussing Family Is Alway As you and your loved ones gather for the holidays, you may talk about all sorts of things. But one topic should always be a part of your holiday conversations: updates on the family. Since the holidays are one of the few times everyone is together, now is a great time to discuss your estate plan and make any changes. Here are three tips for estate planning over the holidays. 1. Use celebrities as examples. Having a conversation about end-of-life or long-term care plans can be tough for some of your family members to do, but outlining your options and steps will give you and your family peace of mind moving forward. You can explain the importance of these issues by highlighting celebrities who’ve failed to create any plan and the aftermath of those decisions. Some examples include Abraham Lincoln, Michael Jackson, Prince, Heath Ledger, and Barry White. 2. Prepare your paperwork. Whether you’re starting from scratch or updating your estate plan, it’s essential all your documents are in order. Once you and your family have discussed any life changes, you want to ensure your assets and other wishes remain in place. You can also make copies of your essential documents and give them to other family members to ensure everyone is on the same page and there are no misunderstandings or misinterpretations. Lastly, be sure your family knows where the original documents of your estate are stored in case they ever need access to them.

Let’s discuss when a retirement coach and their services can be beneficial.

The expectations between you and your partner differ. Maybe you thought you would travel to see the grandkids more or even cross the globe, but your partner wants to start a home renovation project and adopt a pet. When your retirement arrives and suddenly you’re not on the same page, a retirement coach can help. They’re an objective outsider who can help you find a middle ground and get the most out of your time without the stress of fighting. You’re experiencing a ‘purpose void.’ Some people only feel fulfilled when doing something productive, like going to work every day. If you feel like you need a goal to accomplish, a retirement coach can help you. They can pinpoint things you feel gratified by and find activities in your area, at home, or online to ensure you’re not stuck in a hopeless void. You aren’t sure what to do with your money. While sorting out what to do with your free time is essential, how you handle your money after retirement is also important. Even if you feel like you’ve got it figured out, a retirement coach might be able to offer a bit of insight into your spending and saving habits.

The Great Stoneboro Fair / Mercer Co Ag Development Council The Mercer County Ag Development Council is excited to host the Tractors & Tinsel Drive Thru “Parade” again this year. Thank you to the community and those that have supported this event in the past. We had a tremendous response last year and anticipate great attendance on December 3, 2022. This event is made possible by farmers, agriculture businesses, and volunteers who generously give their time and decorate farm equipment and trucks at their own expense. Please keep in mind that much of the equipment that appears at this event is used in the day-to-day operations of these farms and businesses. Plan to use the main entrance to the Fairgrounds from Route 62 and follow signs that will guide you around the track to see all of the displays featuring agriculture in Mercer County. There is no fee to attend, but canned goods and donations will be accepted and passed on to the food banks serving our Mercer County communities. Tune your radios to 91.5 for information about the entries as you get close to the Fairgrounds. Harmony Silvester Celebration Dec. 31 Harmony Square 538 Main St. VisitButlerCounty.com/events/55041-m/harmony-silvester Harmony, Pennsylvania, is known for its German heritage, so the community celebrates its roots with the Silvester celebration in the historical city every year. This event is family-friendly and is a great way to celebrate the new year without staying out late at night. In Germany, the new year starts at 6 p.m. our time, and that’s when the Silvester celebration rings in the new year. The festivities begin at 3 p.m., with the 5K race starting at 3:30 p.m. and the 1-mile fun run at 4:15 p.m. While you’re there, you can go shopping and participate in other festivities. Once the ball drops in Germany at 6 p.m., the town of Harmony will light off fireworks, and the entire community will gather to sing “Auld Lang Syne.”

3. Remember, this is an ongoing conversation. While estate plans may seem final, you can always change your wishes over time. The position you and your family are in at the time of writing may not be where you are when you need your estate plan to go into effect. Therefore, it’s best to review your estate plan at least once a year to ensure everything is accurate. If you have questions about starting or reviewing your estate plan, allow Trinity Elder Law & Estate Planning to assist you. We will be happy to ensure your assets are up to date and your wishes and needs are still relevant and being met.

What Started as a Joke Became Reality

weren’t successful. Then, when she began radiation therapy in 2017, the treatment caused her hair to fall out.

“Not having hair [makes] you stick out like a sore thumb, and well-meaning people can say things that break your heart,” Shaha told TODAY. She didn’t like all the attention and the looks people gave her in public. So, her 27-year-old son Matt had an idea. At first, Matt joked about cutting all of his hair off to make his mother a wig. But the joke soon became a plan, and Matt followed through in 2018. After graduating from college, Matt began growing his hair out. In no time, he had long and luscious hair. His mother tried to dissuade him from cutting it, but Matt wanted to help her feel confident and comfortable in her skin. So, he chopped it off and sent his locks to Compassionate Creations, a hair company in Newport Beach, California, that created a wig for his mother. Now, Shaha has a piece of her son to take everywhere with her beautiful new tresses. “The color is spectacular, and we had it cut and styled with a hairdresser. Matt said it looked great on me. It sure fills your emotional cup,” Shaha says. If you — or someone you know — would like to donate your hair to cancer patients, you can donate to Locks of Love, Wigs For Kids, Chai Lifeline, and Children With Hair Loss. Research donation centers in your area if you would like to give back locally.

If you didn’t know Shaha, you wouldn’t realize she was battling cancer. But this suddenly changed once she lost all of her hair. She had two surgeries, in 2003 and 2006, in hopes of removing the tumor on her pituitary gland, but they Locks of Love Son Makes a Wig for His Mother
