Thanks to the support of CWU we secured funding and now recognize employees all 12 months of the year instead of just 9 months during our quarter celebrations in Fall, Winter and Spring. Employee of the Month Winners for the Fall celebration include: o July o Diana Kellerman - Office Assistant, Veterans Center o Marc McPherson - Lieutenant, University Police and Public Safety o August o Bradley Reeves -Information Technology Application Developer, Enterprise Application Services o Austin Wetherbee - Residence Hall Coordinator, University Housing and Residence Life o Lisa Stowe -Fiscal Specialist, Chemistry o John Magnusson - Residence Hall Coordinator, University Housing and Residence Life Employee Tuition Waiver – Summer Session o Unrepresented classified staff cannot use employee tuition waivers during the summer session. We learned that represented classified staff can. The Employee Council is currently working with staff who’d like to see the benefit extended to all classified staff not just represented classified staff. Bereavement Classified vs Exempt o There are differences for bereavement leave between a classified staff member and an exempt staff member. At this time if the same type of family member were to pass for an exempt staff, they’d receive 10 days of paid bereavement whereas a classified staff member would only receive 3 days of paid bereavement Employee Council By-Laws and Recruitment o Update Employee Council By-Laws to be current and representative of our initiatives, goals and membership. o Recruit Executive Members to ensure full representation of all cabinet areas. At this time Operations, Business & Financial Affairs, Public Affairs and Academic and Student Life are fully represented. o October Continuing Initiatives: § § § o Karen Allen - Administrative Assistant, Public Affairs o Karen Malella - Credentials Evaluator, Registrar Services o September
