trip to Melbourne and the Rankin Cup national tournament, the team still managed a full local competition, the Worner Shield tournament in July, and a South Island tournament, which replaced the Rankin Cup. The local competition was one of the most even grades that has been seen in recent years, with five teams vying for the semi-finals spots, and anyone beating anyone on the night. In the end, College finished top of the table after round robin play, before a tight 1–0 win over Christchurch Boys’ High School in the semi-final, and a high scoring and exciting 4–3 win over St Bede’s College in the final. This saw College win the schools’ premier league for the fourth time in its nine year history, having also been runners-up three times. The South Island tournament saw College finish 3rd overall, after losing to eventual winners King’s High School in pool play. A 3–2 win over St Bede’s in the play off for 3rd and 4th saw College take the bronze medal.
