strength, which made scoring tries difficult. The final score of 15–10 was a great reward for a huge effort, but left the team out of the semi-finals. There was great resolve amongst the four schools involved that making the Quadrangular Tournament happen was a priority, and especially important for those boys in their final year. The solution was to play it in the September holidays, with the three visiting schools all housed at Nelson College. The first match against Whanganui Collegiate School saw College control the game through a fine effort from the forward pack. The final score of 40–22 was a good reflection of the dominance the team had. The final match against Nelson College was another strongly contested battle in which Nelson proved to be the better team on the day, with a 22–33 win. Fletcher Anderson continued the line of very good leaders of the 1st XV and played at a very high standard all season. He and Fiti Sa were rewarded for their efforts throughout the season by being selected to participate in the New Zealand Barbarians Schools training camp in October. Fletcher was named in the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ team, and Fiti in the Barbarian Schools’ team. Both have very promising futures ahead of them.
