Stanton. Team 1 came 1st, retaining the Interschool Ski Race Trophy, while Team 2 finished in 3rd place. Tom Picton-Warlow got the fastest individual time, winning the Hamilton Challenge Cup. Thank you to my colleague Emma Bracken for her help and expertise with this event. The South Island secondary schools championships were held in Cardrona this year. The conditions were average and high winds prevented us from skiing on the first day. However, College was once again well represented in the slalom by two strong teams. Team 1 was composed of Tom Picton-Warlow, Luc Botherway, Sam Willems and William Picton-Warlow; and Team 2
of Charles Lord and Bradley Shearer. Team 1 came 1st in the giant slalom, again winning the South Island title. Tom Picton-Warlow was the fastest individual skier on the day. It was a great trip and the boys did College proud on and off the slopes. Thanks again to Emma Bracken for helping out, especially with the mountain minibus driving! Well done to all of the boys who competed in these key events this year, they were a credit to their school.
The Christ’s College ski teams had a great winter season for 2020. The Canterbury schools ski and snowboard championships were once again held at Mt Hutt this year. The weather was fine and everything ran to schedule, despite the Covid alert level 2 restrictions. Three College teams competed in the ski racing, but again we had no snowboarders competing. Ski race Team 1 was composed of Ned Botherway, Sam Willems, William Picton-Warlow and Tom Picton-Warlow; Team 2 of Luc Botherway, Charles Lord, Bradley Shearer and Gus Orr; and Team 3 of Thomas Johnston, Edward Davidson, Louis Elworthy and Barnaby
