It was the first time we would get to enjoy the new eight-court facility at the Cashmere Club for the entirety of the season. Unfortunately, it was the first time we had to cancel the interhouse competition and the annual Otago Boys’ High School Exchange due to Covid-19 disruptions. But the most noteworthy first would have to be our A team taking out the title in the Canterbury schools top squash division. In playing
and B pool. This meant College teams frequently came head to head with one another. A memorable game was between the two Sudell brothers, who gave each other a full run around. By the end of the season, our B and C teams were fighting for 7th spot in the division. They were all close matches, and the B team claimed 7th, but only by a hair. Our D team made the C grade play-offs for 3rd. They came up against Cashmere High School and won a comfortable three matches out of four. Our junior club champion this year is Reuben Oh, who will likely move up a team next year due to steady progression. Nant Prachuabmoh wins the open champion trophy for a second year running. Nant was undefeated for the entire season. Thanks to all the boys for working hard at training and being good sportsmen on the court, and thank you to the parents who helped transport boys to coaching and games.

I would like to make a special mention of Nant and Nont, who have been part of the A team for several years now. Congratulations to Shyam Hari for being awarded the most promising player of the season. As none of our top players are in Year 13, next year they will be back, and stronger than ever before. Our long-standing coach Michael Allred returned for another season and was ready to provide lessons the moment we dropped down to Covid alert level 2. This meant the length of the training season was not heavily affected, however, Wednesday afternoon games were delayed by several weeks. Mike’s phenomenal leadership and skill on court is key to the boys’ success. Time after time I have seen the game score completely turn around because of the support and advice Mike gives during a match. As a club, we entered four teams into competition this year. Our top three teams qualified for the combined A
