tennis is. The premier grade teams were divided into three teams. The A side won the competition, with the B side finishing third. The B1 team won the B Grade Division 1 competition. Whereas in Division 2, the B6 side won the grade, with the B7 side finishing third. In the Year 10 competition, the 9.1 team, promoted a grade, finished second, and the 9.2 team finished first in Division 2. In the much smaller competition in Term 4, our premier team took out the title. Our J1 team finished second and our J2 team finished third in the Year 10 competition. At Year 9, our 9.1 team won the grade and our 9.2 team finished third. On an individual basis, Liam Adams, our number one player, finished the year just outside the top 50 men in New Zealand. He is certainly one of the top U18 tennis players in the country. In addition, Jenner Johnson, Nant Prachuabmoh, Nont Prachuabmoh, Liam Barrett, Tom Downs, Lucca Wiseman, Lucas Evans, George
Brakenridge and George Austin all played in national tournaments throughout the year. While Liam Adams, Nick Schneideman, Jenner Johnson, Nant Prachuabmoh, Nont Prachuabmoh, Nathan McKenzie and Liam Barrett are all playing men’s senior club premier grade in Christchurch. In the Canterbury secondary schools championships, Liam Adams won the senior boys’ title in his final year, defeating Nant Prachuabmoh in the final. While Nick Schneideman and Nant Prachuabmoh teamed up to defeat Jenner Johnson and Liam Adams in the final. Nant and Nont teamed up to win the Year 11 doubles Canterbury title. In the Year 11 competition Jasper Johnson and Harry Dargue teamed up to get runner-up in the final. At the Canterbury secondary schools junior tournament. In the Year 10 competition, Liam Barrett defeated Lucca Wiseman in the final. Liam then teamed up with George Brakenridge to defeat Lucca and George Austin in the doubles final. Lucas Evans
was our only entrant in the Year 9 competition, due to a clash with the Year 9 camp. He made it all the way to the final. In the House competition, Rolleston House proved too strong in the junior competition, defeating Julius in the final. While Harper beat a valiant Flower’s House to take the win in the senior event. This has been another successful year for College tennis and we are fortunate to have a very strong pool of talented players. I would like to thank Matt Meredith and Hugo Nurse-Strang for their excellent coaching; and would also like to thank my teaching colleagues Caroline Marsh, Ginny Patterson, Bosco Peters, Tamara Lerios, Lesley Anderson-McKenna, Samantha Stevenson, Zac Knight, Katie Southworth, Melissa Campbell and Susan Harding, who have given such great support throughout the year.
