PASTORAL CARE Condell’s House

won the senior tug of war and senior futsal House competitions. Our Head of House 2020, Fletcher Anderson, deserves much credit for the way he has led the House this year. Leading by example, looking out for the juniors, motivating and gently encouraging everyone to get involved and participate positively. He has earned the respect of the House and showed what can be achieved in Year 13, not least in his role as captain of the 1st XV alongside a lead role in Evita . Matt Durant and Tom Tothill likewise demonstrated an aptitude for leadership in their support of Fletcher this year. These three showed us the value of the House system and ensured a great year, demonstrating a determination to do well and support the House. The Year 9 students have already proved themselves to be an enthusiastic group. They are keen to participate and have established their presence by stepping up and getting involved in as much as they can around the House. Their positivity is contagious and I look forward to them welcoming the incoming Year 9 students in 2021. The House community is certainly strong. Many thanks to the Anderson, Cochran and Lee families for hosting House functions in their homes this year. These House events are always well supported, lively, and a great time to catch up. INTERHOUSE EVENTS Athletics Athletics Day was a great success for the House. Fletcher and Matt did a fantastic job of motivating the boys and organising participants whilst themselves competing in

many events. We did not get the first place we had hoped for, but we can certainly be proud of the efforts made and high levels of participation across year groups, with the boys showing determination and team spirit to achieve at their best. The Year 12 students did a wonderful job of organising the House barbecue at lunchtime. Congratulations to our prize winners: Matt Durant, Dominic Lambert, John Wells, Sam Idiens – who broke the record for the Intermediate 3000m, finishing in 9.25 minutes – and Matty Hickman. It was brilliant to see so much enthusiasm and positive support of those competing in all events. Swimming Sports Congratulations to our championship swimmers: Matt Durant, Bradley Shearer, Santino Felitti-Duter, Tom Rawstron, Archie Whithear and Matty Hickman. Bradley came 1st in the 50m butterfly and took five 2nd places in other finals. Santino was 2nd in the 200m freestyle and the individual medley. Matty raced in six championship races, and came 2nd in the 100m freestyle and 100m individual medley. Senior Volleyball The senior volleyball final was played against Richards House. Fletcher Anderson, Rory Doull, Jeremy Kinley, Dominic Lambert, Fletcher Miller and Bradley Shearer played the full game and confidently won the first set. They gave it their best attempt, but unfortunately could not defeat a strong Richards side. House Music A fantastic result saw Condell’s take 2nd place overall. We were awarded the House Choir Instrumental

Despite losing several weeks of the school year, we can be proud of our achievements as a House. Condell’s brings energy, teamwork, House spirit and a sense of humour to everything in which we are involved. A significant strength of Condell’s is the connection between year groups and the relationships formed as a result. Mentor groups, led by House staff, have allowed this to develop. These connections also worked well during lockdown to keep a sense of House spirit while we were working from home. Many students were keen to step up and participate in House events. Condell’s were runners-up in athletics, House Music, senior volleyball, chess, junior futsal and junior debating. For the second year running we were senior debating winners and now have a strong junior side developed under the mentorship of Year 13 students Jamie Yee and John-Paul Lay. We also
