Wagonhammer Ranches - 51st Annual Total Performance Angus, Simmental and Charolais Production Sale [3/18/26]

The Total Performance Brand

CALVING EASE We pride ourselves on providing you, our valued customers, with bulls that will produce calves that are born easily, get up quickly and start growing. We also recognize that not every bull needs to breed heifers and so we have created a system to identify the potential Angus heifer bulls in the sale via a star rating system. Please use the key below to help understand our recommendations on how each bull can be used based off their EPDs, actual performance, dam’s production record and pedigree history. HHHHH 5 STAR CALVING EASE No doubt heifer bull. He was born light and unassisted. His EPDs are elite for calving ease. His sire, dam and maternal grandsire have a history of calving ease. HHHH 4 STAR CALVING EASE EPDs for CED and BW suggest he should work well on heifers. Born with moderate birth weight and born unassisted. Pedigree has history of calving ease. HHH 3 STAR CALVING EASE EPDs for CED and BW suggest calving ease. Born with either heavier actual weight unassisted or smaller actual weight with abnormal presentation. Can be used on heifers with caution especially that are more developed prior to first calving (weighting 1150+). These bulls will fit well to breed wet two year olds. Pedigree has calving history. Angus Bulls without highlighted calving ease – bulls that aren’t highlighted for calving ease will have typical Angus characteristics for easy calving but their numerical indicators and history tell us that they will work best on cows to maximize growth. Fellow Ranchers, It is my pleasure to give you a little background on the development of the 2026

Wagonhammer offering. These bulls have been developed with their future in mind, and with an eye toward giving you the most return for your genetics investment. All of the bulls were started on feed slowly, stepped through a series of rations to ensure digestive and hoof health, and limited to less than 30% starch in the bull grower ration. This set of bulls have been sorted on constantly, culled ruthlessly, and developed cautiously. The aged bulls grazed summer range last summer and were grown this winter in a large test lot with plenty of room, not in a typical feedlot setting. By sale day, all of the bulls will be turned out on pasture and meadow to travel and exercise for their long-term soundness. The Wagonhammer and Great Plains crews take bull selection and development seriously; and we all expect these bulls to work hard in the upcoming breeding season. As always, we welcome your feedback and appreciate your support. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you have about the development process.

Thank you, Jeremy Martin, Ph.D. Great Plains Livestock Consulting, Inc.

The American Angus Association and Certified Angus Beef have launched a program to recognize bulls with the genetic potential to expand the supply of CAB beef in the marketplace.

Note on weights – Birth weights on embryo transfer animals are not meaningful because the ET process leads to larger weights. We are printing ET to the right of the birth weight for ET animals.”. WW and YW EPDs are comparable between programs, but actual/ adjusted weaning and yearling weights are not due to management and reporting differences. Birth weights and weaning weights are not even comparable between our spring and fall herds because of the environment and forage availability being so much different. Fall weights are consistently lighter.
