VIRGINIA & CENTRAL MARYLAND St. John Properties Initiates Construction on Four Buildings at Arcola Center in Dulles, Virginia
Mt. Pleasant Commerce Center Attracts Three New Companies WI SCONS I N
Speculative construction activities are underway at Arcola Center, a 34-acre business community located at the intersection of Loudoun County Parkway and Dulles West Boulevard in Dulles, Virginia. St. John Properties, Inc., recently broke ground on four buildings, comprising 100,000 square feet of flex/R&D space. “We have been active in Loudoun County for more than two decades and have delivered more than 20 buildings which serve the commercial real estate needs of more than 150 companies,” explained Matt Holbrook, Regional Partner, Virginia and Central Maryland for St. John Properties. “This area does not have enough of the flex/R&D product, which we are developing now, to support the local companies that need this type of building to operate and grow their business. We are doing our part to help grow the regional economy.”
“St. John Properties could choose to develop real estate product that is more lucrative but, instead, they are committed to doing what is best for Loudoun County and they should be commended for that,” said Buddy Rizer, Executive Director of the Loudoun County Department of Economic Development. “Developing this type of product builds balance in our County and provides more jobs than you can ever imagine.”
St. John Properties, Inc. signed new leases with three employers totaling more than 30,000 square feet of commercial office space at Mt. Pleasant Commerce Center in Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin. Upon their occupancy at 13200 Globe Drive, which encompasses two single-story buildings comprising just over 100,000 square feet of office and retail space, the groups will cumulatively bring approximately 120 employees to the 18-acre mixed-use business community. The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) will relocate approximately 25 to 30 employees from 4020 Durand Avenue in Racine to 10,150 square feet of space at 13200 Global Drive, Building 200 by year-end. Power transmission equipment manufacturer Twin Disc Inc., based in Racine, signed a lease for 15,482 square feet of space and will relocate the company’s engineering division and approximately 45 employees to Mt. Pleasant Commerce Center by year-end. Wisconsin Early Autism Project and Total Spectrum provide applied behavior analysis therapy to children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The company signed a lease with St. John Properties for 5,536 square feet of space for its second location with St. John Properties, fifth location in the greater Milwaukee area, and 11th in Wisconsin. “The diversity of these uses – ranging from professional services to engineering to healthcare – demonstrate the extreme flexibility of our buildings and ability to satisfy a wide range of real estate needs,” stated Greg Fax, Regional Partner for St. John Properties.
Syzygy Events International Relocating Headquarters to Arcadia Business Park
Special event design company Syzygy Events International has signed two leases with St. John Properties, Inc. totaling more than 21,000 square feet of warehouse and flex/R&D space at Arcadia Business Park, a 61-acre business community in Frederick, Maryland. The woman-owned group recently relocated its corporate headquarters and design and construction teams, from Gaithersburg to 4754 Arcadia Drive in a 15,641 square foot space. “A number of factors influenced our decision to relocate to the Frederick area including our desire to shorten the commute for many of our employees, a slightly different business model that impacts our real estate requirements, and the attraction of settling down in an area that we are intimately familiar with, and comfortable in,” explained Julie Shanklin, President and CEO of Syzygy. “As a Hagerstown resident with many family members living in Frederick, this location
significantly shortens my commute and will enable me to spend more quality time at home,” Shanklin adds. “I love everything about Frederick, and our team is looking forward to getting to know and becoming engaged with the local community.” “We are ecstatic to welcome Syzygy Events International to our project and to Frederick. It’s another example of a successful, well-respected firm that recognizes the many benefits of relocating to Frederick, such as a higher quality of life, rich amenities, and less traffic, all in a welcoming community,” stated Matt Holbrook, Regional Partner, Virginia, and Central Maryland for St. John Properties.
