A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 12

Year 12 students had a busy week and all took part in a number of events this week in relation to their post-18 options, which I am certain they all found extremely useful. The events included talks on per- sonal statements, the EPQ, application to Oxbridge, as well as lots of information on different types of apprenticeships, including degree apprenticeships. The week culminated with an exciting trip to Thor- pe Park, which I am sure all Year 12 students did enjoy. Normal lessons are due to resume on Monday. Students need to be aware of the fact that there will be room changes which may affect some of their lessons. They need to make sure that they check epraise every day to find out if they have been affected or not.

Have a lovely weekend!

BOOK OF THE MONTH

The Island of Missing Trees, Elif Shafak

‘The Island of Missing Trees’ weaves history, memory, and nature into a powerful story of love and loss. Set between war-torn Cyprus and present-day London, it explores the marks conflict leaves on the lives of the characters, with a fig tree entwined through this narrative. Shafak’s storytelling is deeply human, highlighting the pain of displacement and the resilience of identity. This novel is both moving and thought-provoking, poignantly discussing how generational trauma is instilled in our lives today.
