The Master of Science in Healthcare Management and Informatics (MSHMI) is the only premier, interdisciplinary graduate degree in the State of Georgia. It is designed to prepare the next generation of health care managers and informaticians to be visionaries, leaders, and innovators in their field. MSHMI: THE DEGREE FOR THE 21ST CENTURY Our faculty and industry partners have collaboratively developed a vibrant program reflecting the needs of the contemporary health informatics domain. A GROWING INDUSTRY In Georgia alone, digital healthcare companies generate $11 billion in annual revenue and an additional $20 billion in economic impact for the state, according to the Technology Association of Georgia. The industry also employs more than 44,000 people, representing a 31 percent jump in Georgia’s digital healthcare workforce since 2010. Earning an MSHMI degree is one of the best opportunities to elevate your career. Healthcare payers, providers, pharmaceutical companies, and technology firms are continuously striving to find professionals with knowledge of the healthcare sector, insights on management and leadership, and expertise with analytics and technology. The KSU MSHMI ADVANTAGE INTERDISCIPLINARY PROGRAM The MSHMI program is a premier interdisciplinary program spanning the Coles College of Business, Wellstar College of Health and Human Services, College of Science and Mathematics, and College of Computer Science and Software Engineering. It was developed in response to the unique workforce needs of the contemporary healthcare environment, where data and technology are critical. The MSHMI program teaches students to make strategic decisions that improve healthcare delivery and provide the best patient outcomes. A STRONG PROFESSIONAL FOUNDATION To succeed as a healthcare technology professional, you need confidence that you have the skills the industry is looking for. The MSHMI curriculum is guided by the principles of the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) and accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International), meaning the program has been specifically tailored to the needs of the healthcare technology industry and is always evolving as those needs change. MSHMI students are also eligible for fellowship opportunities with Wellstar Health Systems and the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) and can apply for a scholarship from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

FITS YOUR BUSY LIFESTYLE As a working professional, you need a graduate program that fits your schedule. The MSHMI curriculum includes a mix of in-person, online, and hybrid courses that create opportunities to interact and develop relationships with colleagues and industry leaders. Our hybrid courses have a face-to-face session every other week on Friday evenings to accommodate professionals with demanding careers. Between meetings, you are encouraged to reach out to your colleagues, mentors, coaches, and faculty advisors. TOGETHER WE SUCCEED The MSHMI program follows a cohort model. You enter the program and proceed by taking two courses per semester with the same classmates, finishing the degree in two years. This means you will forge strong ties with your colleagues, learn from their diverse healthcare, technology, and management expertise, and build rich experiences while navigating the program. FINANCIAL AID – FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Opportunities exist for financial aid and paid graduate assistantships with a partial tuition waiver. Graduate assistantships are also an excellent way to gain professional experience while offsetting costs. You can also apply for several endowed scholarships available to MSHMI students.

The MSHMI CURRICULUM The MSHMI program has a rigorous and relevant 36-hour integrated curriculum designed to blend theoretical learning with practical application. CORE COURSES
The work my students have completed has significantly enhanced readiness for both current and future careers in healthcare informatics by providing a solid foundation through hands-on experiences. Moreover, their deep understanding of the required learning materials has further strengthened the integration of practical skills and theoretical knowledge, preparing them to excel in this evolving field.

Our faculty members have a wealth of theoretical and applied knowledge and represent multiple competencies encompassing the full breadth of digital healthcare.
Dr. Sweta Sneha Founder and Executive Director of the MSHMI Program
She is a veteran of approximately 20 years of experience in technology and healthcare with a passion to see you grow professionally and succeed. Dr. Sneha earned her Ph.D. at Georgia State University in Computer Information Systems, and holes a Certificate in Biomedical and Health Informatics.
Dr. Dominic Thomas Associate Professor of Information Systems
His current research focuses on improving the usefulness of technology in healthcare both in organizational and individual settings. He has published articles in leading journals in his field. Dr. Thomas holds a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Georgia (2005), a B.A. in English and American Literature from Brandeis University (1994), and foreign language certifications in Russian, Nepalese, and Japanese.
Dr. Soo Il Shin Associate Professor of Information Systems
His research interests encompass computer-mediated communication, healthcare information technology, virtual collaboration, digital platforms, and human behavior on AI applications. Dr. Shin has published research articles in major IS journals and presented his works at many premier conferences. He earned a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Auburn University (2015), a Master of Actuarial Science from Georgia State University, and an MBA and B.S. from Sogang University. Dr. Govind Hariharan Associate Professor of Information Systems He is an award-winning teacher and has taught extensively in executive programs in Buffalo, China, India, and Singapore. His research, which focuses on health, wealth, and technology issues, is included in the Classics in Risk Management volume and in U.S. Senate testimonies. Dr. Hariharan serves on many boards and committees in the Atlanta Regional Commission and ASFIP Foundation. He has previously served on the boards of the American Diabetes Association, Wellstar Institute for Better Health, and numerous healthcare and economic development task forces.
Dr. Hossein Mohit Assistant Professor of Information Systems and Security
Hossein Mohit earned his Ph.D. from the G. Brint Ryan College of Business at the University of North Texas, majoring in Business Computer Information Systems. He also holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Azad University and an MS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Science and Culture. His research interests include Blockchain and Cryptocurrency, IT adoption, social network analysis, cybersecurity, and big data analytics. Dr. Mohit’s work has appeared in The Journal of Computer Information Systems, Information Systems Management, and MISQ Executive.

Capstone: The MSHMI Capstone Course allows you to apply and hone your skills, enhance your profile, and gain industry experience while working with an industry partner to research a real healthcare challenge and devise a solution. We first got involved with the HMI program
to do a research project on technology in the real world of employee health and wellness. Eventually, that relationship grew into applying for a grant together, and now pursuing many other partnerships.
