A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 10

It has been very exciting in school this week, with the Year 11 dress up day and leavers assembly, which Year 10 will be taking part in this time next year. This week we had Year 10 parents evening, allowing parents and guardians to get an insight into how their students are progressing in these subjects. If you were unable to see a teacher, do contact the KS4 hub and ask if specific teachers can get in contact with you. This week in form time we did an activity in commemoration of VE day, learning more about this histori- cal and integral event in British history.

Congrats to 10ERU and 10PGU for coming top in the e-praise leaderboard. Well done!

Letters have been sent out giving more information on the Year 10 exams which will be happening in June. Students are also reminded to ensure that all of their working experiences placements are organ- ised as this will also be happening next month We are currently working through all of the prefect and house captain applications. It has been great to see so many students applying and expressing interest! Students are reminded however, that for pre- fect roles they may not always get their first choice, but we will endeavor to find them a role that suits them.

Have a lovely weekend!

MRS PORTEOUS, HEAD OF YEAR 10

BOOK OF THE MONTH

‘Things a Bright Girl Can Do’ by Sally Nicholls

Set in the early twentieth century, this novel follows three brave young women as they all become involved in the Suffragette movement. I loved how Nicholls brought the time period to life, showing what it felt like to be a woman and girl during that turbulent time. But if historical novels aren’t usually your thing, don’t be put off. It feels really modern and fresh, exploring issues like class differences as the three main characters come from different backgrounds. There is also a beautiful love story between two of the characters. It has something for everyone!
