could trust Him at all times and in all places. In this faith his household shared. This is the full development of faith. FRIDAY, Nov. 7. Duke 24:25-27, 44-47. The Messiahship of Jesus. Luke summarizes the instruction of the forty days. What a wonderful Bible reading it must have been that Jesus gave to Cleopas and his friend! Jesus had before Him the great field of Scrip ture from Gen. 3:15 to Malachi 4:6. He had found Himself in Scripture every where. John 5:39. He had only to let the light that filled His heart shine forth. The preposition “from” before Moses and all the prophets, shows that the demonstration began afresh with every prophet. The phrase “while I was yet with you,” shows that the separation was now complete and that His true abode was now elsewhere. SATURDAY, Nov. 8. Isaiah 11:1-19. The Coming Kingdom. The phrase “Thy kingdom come” whether applied to the eternal king dom of the Father or the millennial reign of the Son, must be understood in the sense of approach rather than the ordinary idea of extension. Gov ernment in the hands of man has al ways meant insecurity, failure and cor ruption. How can man, who is a sin ner, rule in righteousness? Man must learn by experience the imperative necessity which exists for “the heavens to rule.” The government of God must be supreme and universal. The solar system is the language of heaven teach ing men the truth that Christ the Son of righteousness must be the center of authority and government on earth. Every true believer is a theocrat. SUNDAY, Nov. 9. Isaiah 53:1-12. The Suffering Servant of God. The servant of Jehovah in the Old Testament has a double application. It

be practiced by a worldling. The for mer can only be done by a Christian with the help of God. Self-denial may be purely selfish as when an avaricious man may deny himself all pleasure that he may increase his hoard of gold. The denial of self is essentially unselfish and is really the reverse side of affirm ing Christ. “Not I but Christ,” Gal. 2:20. Self denial is the opposite of self indulgence and is one of the fruits of the denial of self in the Christian life. Self finds its end at the cross, even the religious self which dies hardest and perhaps last of all. WEDNESDAY, Nov. 5. John 6:63-69. The Words of Eternal Life. Jesus not only accomplished the works that the Father sent Him to do, but He spoke the words which His Father commanded Him to speak. They are the words of eternal life to every one that receives them. On that ac count his words will condemn all who reject them. Deut. 18:18-19, John 12: 49-50. Three times during the earthly ministry of the Saviour, the voice of the Father was heard speaking from heaven. At His baptism and His transfiguration God said, “Hear Him.” He Himself, was God’s word to man, Heb. 1:2, and whosoever hears Him, hears God. THURSDAY, Nov. 6. John 4:46-53. A Father Who Trusted in Jesus. Three degrees of faith are seen in this nobleman’s experience. First, he believed the truth of what he had heard concerning the power of Christ to heal. Credible witnesses have told him what Jesus had done in Jerusalem. He therefore traveled from Capermann to Cana and asked Him to heal his son. Second, he believed the assurance of Christ to himself, “Thy son liveth,” and went on his way without anxiety. Third, he believed in Christ as the Saviour of men and the Redeemer of the world. His confidence could not be shaken. He
