CHAPTER EIGHT • SPACE UTILIZATION ANALYSIS NAPERVILLE PARK DISTRICT INDOOR RECREATION SPACE NEEDS ASSESSMENT
PARK DISTRICT FACILITIES AT 95TH STREET CENTER The 95th Street Center consists of 3,671 SF of multi-purpose and classroom space that NPD leases for a variety of programs. The leased space includes a Multi-Purpose Room (204), Classroom (207), and Wood Floor Studio (208/209). Room 204 most commonly hosts camps, extended break programs and educational activities, as well as fitness and health programs. This analysis found that camp programs in this space consistently reach maximum capacity. Weekdays (Monday through Thursday) see the highest usage with 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. being popular times for classes. Saturdays see the highest usage around 9:00 a.m. for fitness classes. Room 208/209 is predominantly used for dance and fitness programs. Peak usage occurs on weekday evenings and weekend mornings, particularly on Thursdays and Saturdays. Dance programs, especially various levels and types of ballet and musical theater dance, dominate the schedule and show strong enrollment figures. Fitness programs, while also popular, show more variability in enrollment success, particularly with kickboxing and Pilates. Room 207 is most heavily used during weekday mornings, particularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Enrichment programs like Busy Bees, Chess Wizards, Creative Sewing, and RoboThink are the most common and popular, often reaching full enrollment or having waitlists. This indicates a high demand for morning programs for young children and educational camps during school breaks. The 95th Street Center experiences logistical challenges that need to be considered when planning use by programs. The building is predominantly used by businesses on weekdays. Activities scheduled within the 95th Street Center on weekdays must consider the noise generated by the program to avoid disruptions to other building tenants.
