APPENDIX VII: OPEN SURVEY & BRIEF ON-SITE QUESTIONNAIRE RESULTS NAPERVILLE PARK DISTRICT INDOOR RECREATION SPACE NEEDS ASSESSMENT
INDOOR FACILITY USE AND PROGRAM USE The Fort Hill Activity Center emerged as a hub of indoor facility activity, with a total of 1,024 respondents indicating that they visited at least once in the past year, and 450 reporting more than 25 visits in 12 months, reflecting the facility’s central role in the community’s recreational life (Figure 6) . Similarly, programs for all ages, which include a variety of recreational, sports, fitness, and general interest activities, demonstrated significant engagement. Three-quarters of respondents (N=1,024) reported engaging at least once in the last 12 months, with 450 visiting more than 25 times, underscoring the Fort Hill Activity Center’s broad appeal and importance to residents of all ages. Notably, specialized facilities such as the Knoch Knolls Nature Center displayed different patterns of use. The Nature Center was visited by 755 respondents at least once, with a substantial portion visiting only 1-5 times (N=523; 38%), indicating a more occasional use of this facility for nature-based activities. Additionally, activities at school facilities where Park District programs take place showed considerable engagement, with attendance distributed across several categories: 1-5 times (N=180; 13%), 6-10 times (N=117; 9%), 11-25 times (N=129; 10%), and more than 25 times (N=234; 17%) annually. In contrast, the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center (ARRCC) and Park District-leased space at the 95th Street Center reported relatively lower engagement, with a high number of respondents visiting five or fewer times, 248 (18%) and 252 (17%) respondents, respectively. Lastly, the Seager Park Interpretive Center, Sportsman’s Park Community Clubhouse, and Studio One (art studio), smaller facilities with less programmable space, showed the least engagement. The majority of respondents had not visited these facilities at all in the past year, at 85%, 93%, and 95%, respectively (Figure 6) .
