APPENDIX VIII: OPEN-ENDED FEEDBACK NAPERVILLE PARK DISTRICT INDOOR RECREATION SPACE NEEDS ASSESSMENT

12

Overall, I feel there should be a north and south Naperville park district with dedicated staff that can meet the needs of that region or zone. As the population of Naperville and facilities/capacity of programs are not meeting the need or interest More programs closer to district 8 would be great No Indoor Facility in South Naperville (N= 11) Facilities cater to northern/central Naperville more. There should be a Fort hill type center in the south. I am not aware of other facilities like Fort Hill Fitness center throughout Naperville. The youth basketball program seems to have outgrown just the one facility. Maybe we need another one in the south side of Naperville?? Need more indoor options in southeast Naperville. Need an indoor facility like Fort Hill in south Naperville. Most of the indoor fitness facilities are far from South Naperville. A fitness center in south Naperville will be very helpful As I stated in the earlier question, I live in South Naperville and would really appreciate a park district facility in my neck of the woods, so to speak. I have a lot of friends who use Fort Hill and they rave about it. Why can't South Naperville residents have a similar facility? Need an indoor gym facility in South Naperville, i.e., for more than just classes Also, we live in NE Naperville and too many programs are far south inaccessible. Fort Hill is the only exercise facility on the other side of town. Too far for residents South of 75th to go to. As I previously stated, there is a need for an indoor facility closer to the southeast part of Naperville. My family has resorted to using Woodridge Park District because of the proximity, even though we reside in Naperville. Need an indoor facility in south Naperville. Fort Hill is way too far north for those living south of 75 th It is also a larger city that covers a lot of square miles that it needs indoor facilities on both the north and south side of town Lacking Programming (N = 11) Track in the Fort Hill Activity Center should open to all Naperville residents all the time. Also, more alternative/adult offerings. I feel there needs to be more programs geared to fitness, wellness and tweens/teens. Informal, low skill open gyms or "leagues" where adults over 40 can play and meet peers. e.g. pickleball, volleyball, softball, badminton. I would like to see more recreational programs for seniors. Need new offerings like skateboarding lessons.
