Need Better Facility Maintenance (N=3) Bike trails, parks, golf courses important to maintain if not improve before adding multimillion fitness centers competing with numerous private facilities. Keep up to date basketball courts and outside facilities like Nike Park The baseball and softball fields at Frontier Park are so dilapidated that someone is going to get seriously injured. Infrastructure Suggestions (N=4)
Playground for kids Need one more big - 20 courts - Pickleball facility.
It's wonderful to have so many beautiful parks in every neighborhood. However, please move Sportsman's Park from its current location for its incompatibility with neighboring school and parks, and for its inequity, operating cost, and environmental impact, of which its budget could be wisely used elsewhere for NPD. It would be great if NPD had indoor turf space for the fall and winter for sports like soccer, flag football, etc. we have to go to other park districts or private for winter sports. An open gym would be great as the homeschool community is growing and for younger children, if you had an indoor turf to see a few days or hours where parents could pay a fee for open play would be awesome, Naperville yard offers something like that but not over the summer when I believe it is more needed when it gets too hot out.
Concerns about Facility Costs and Higher Taxes (N=3) However, $85 tax increase for 20 years is too high for us. I think my taxes are high enough.
I would love to have had an indoor swimming space when my kids were younger but now that they are older, I am not sure we would use it and am concerned about the cost and location. Expect Development in the North Recreation Center (N =2) Please have this development on the North side of Naperville. If it was on the South side, it would not be utilized due to inconvenience of distance and traffic. The northwest side continues to grow in diverse needs and the facilities especially at the schools are limiting for the communities, kids, safety and security. Miscellaneous (N=9) We participate in Carillon tower activities and are assuming it is views as an outside space facility, as is river walk cafe. Not really familiar with the NPD and its programs or facilities but I believe it is important for the community and would support the creation or continuation of facilities and/or programs if a large portion of the community has interest it. I would personally probably never use or attend though but if there is significant interest from other in the community than I am all for it. Thanks for this survey and to the staff pursuing improvement. The closing of Edward fitness on Brom was a blow to the senior community. I don’t remember seeing a brochure lately. Not sure how you know when new programs are available.
