WILLINGNESS TO PAY WILLINGNESS TO PAY: BY AGE GROUP
Age group differences in willingness to pay show respondents in the 40-59 age group were more likely to indicate yes (62%) they are willing to pay more in property taxes per year for a “multi-purpose activity center with a pool” compared to the three other age groups (Table 5) . Regarding a “multi-purpose activity center (no pool),” the 60-75 and 40-59 age groups were least likely to be willing to pay (21% and 29% respectively) compared to the other age groups. For “multi-purpose activity center with synthetic turf,” the under 39 age group was split with 41% of respondents indicating a willingness to pay and 41% not willing to pay. Older age groups are less willing to pay for most facility types, except for a “multi-purpose activity center with indoor pool,” for which majority of 60-75 and 75 and over age groups were either unsure or willing to pay.
Table 5: Willingness to Pay by Age Group
CONCLUSION FACILITY TYPE IMPORTANCE AND WILLINGNESS TO PAY: BY AGE GROUP Findings by age groups are consistent across facility type importance and willingness to pay ratings. Taken together, a “multi-purpose activity center with a pool” was rated as most important overall, especially among the 40-59 age group, while respondents in this age group were also the most likely to be willing to pay more in property taxes for a “multi-purpose activity center with a pool.”
