CHAPTER SEVEN • COMMUNITY SURVEY NAPERVILLE PARK DISTRICT INDOOR RECREATION SPACE NEEDS ASSESSMENT
Importance ratings for the three facility types were examined across all eight planning areas to determine if importance varied significantly by planning area (Table 6) . Results of the Analysis of Variance Tests (ANOVA) indicated there were no significant differences between the eight planning areas for mean importance ratings (where 1 = not important, 2 = somewhat important, and 3 = very important). Overall, respondents from all planning areas rated “multi-purpose activity center with an indoor pool” as the most important across all facility types, with Areas 5, 6, 7, and 8 demonstrating higher mean scores of importance than Areas 1, 2, 3, and 4, with averages ranging from 2.16 (Area 3) to 2.74 (Area 6). These high averages for a multi-purpose activity center with an indoor pool indicate a higher need (based on importance) for this type of facility in the central and southern areas of Naperville. IMPORTANCE AND WILLINGNESS TO PAY: BY PLANNING AREAS 1-8
Table 6: Facility Type Importance by Planning Areas (1-8)
Chi-square analysis was conducted to examine differences in willingness to pay among the eight planning areas (Table 7) . Results indicated no statistically significant differences across planning area in terms of willingness to pay. This is helpful information for any potential future outreach initiatives, as marketing strategies would not have to be tailored to differences across particular planning areas based on willingness to pay.
