Accredited Online Safety Who is the course for? Teachers, Subject Leader, Designated Leaders and Senior Leaders. Outline: Training for professionals to provide them with an improved understanding of the risks children face online as well as guidance on strengthening policies and procedures to protect and support children. It is recommended that someone from each school has greater knowledge of online safety. This session provides this and includes CEOP accreditation for delegates.

Accredited Safer Recruitment Training Who is the course for? Designated Safeguarding Leads, Senior Leaders, Governors, Bursars and Business Managers. Outline: This accredited course builds on the recommendations contained in Sir Michael Bichard’s report into the Soham case. There are five sessions throughout the day looking at different aspects of safer recruitment - preparing to recruit, selecting the right people, choosing wisely, checking thoroughly and remaining vigilant. It will help participants to begin to review their own and their organisation’s policies and practice with a view to making them ‘safer’.

Building and Protecting Your School’s Online Reputation Who is the course for? Teachers and Subject Leaders. Outline: The internet and social media provide excellent opportunities for schools to share news about events, activities, learning and much more with parents and the wider community. However, it also allows everyone else to offer their opinions about the school – good and bad. This course will introduce tips and advice for building and protecting your school’s reputation online.

This course is for new DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) and new teammembers; it provides training around the role, practicalities and processes involved in being a DSL or teammember in Havering. Leadership Development Programme (6 Parts) Who is the course for? Senior Leaders and Subject Leaders. Outline:

The Role of the Mathematics Subject Leader Who is the course for? New and aspiring Subject Leaders and Teachers. Outline: This session is for new or aspiring Subject Leaders and will explore the role of the Mathematics Leader in primary schools. You will consider the responsibilities of the role, including data analysis, creating a development plan, monitoring and evaluating impact, curriculum design and supporting CPD. You will consider planning for intervention, liaising with parents, raising the profile of mathematics, creating challenge for all pupils and supporting vulnerable groups.

This six-part programme is designed for current middle and senior leaders in primary schools/academies and will focus on the key core skills and attributes of school leadership. FMS – Finance Workshop for Managers Who is the course for? Headteachers, Deputy Headteachers and Finance Staff. Outline: You will have the opportunity to examine your own school’s budget to gain a greater understanding of your School’s financial position. You will learn: l  How to drill down to obtain further details. FMS – Setting a School Budget Who is the course for? School staff responsible for constructing the school budget. Outline: This course introduces the principles of budget management and covers the following:

Computing Across the Wider Curriculum Who is the course for? Teachers and Subject Leaders. Outline: Is computing always taught as a standalone lesson? Could it benefit from being taught through other subjects too? Want to find out how it can be done? Come along to this course and explore links between the computing curriculum and other subjects, such as PE, english, maths, art and more in order to unleash the power of computing across the curriculum.

This two-part course (including action research gap task) focuses on the important stage at the end of KS1 and beginning of KS2 when most children are moving from phonically regular texts to more sophisticated books. This crucial stage will have a major impact on whether a child will become a habitual reader.

Online Safety – Time to Review it? Who is the course for? Teachers and Subject Leaders. Outline: This course will assist your school in reviewing existing online safety practice and provision. Explore a range of issues facing pupils, staff and parents through the use of new technologies – including social media, sexting, online grooming and more. Evaluate and benchmark your school’s online safety practice. It will also signpost a range of online resources to support online safety provision.

Paired and Group Talk in Maths Who is the course for? Teachers and Subject Leaders. Outline:

The ‘outdoor classroom’ provides a meaningful way to engage learners in practical science. The wider educational benefits of teaching and learning science in the natural and built school environments include motivation to learn and the potential to positively influence the choice of science as a future subject of study.

This session will consider the value of mathematical talk to support learning. We will explore paired and small group talk, questioning and how to manage talk within a maths lesson. We will explore the role of mathematical talk in developing reasoning and evaluate the vocabulary and language needed to enhance understanding. The session will also provide opportunities for teachers to plan for action research in their own classrooms.

This course is aimed at subject leaders in computing and online safety. The purpose is to support leaders with their annual cycle of monitoring and identifying areas for improvement. We will focus on ways of monitoring, self-evaluation/audit tools and creating an effective development plan.

Outline: This course will help Year 6 teachers to prepare for the assessment of their classes in reading and writing at the end of the Key Stage. It will be informed by the experiences of the writing moderating team over the previous years and will be particularly useful for teachers new to Year 6.

Reading Challenging Texts at KS2 Who is the course for? Teachers and Subject Leaders. Outline: The current curriculum and testing regime demand the comprehension of sophisticated texts. This course will introduce teachers to a range of approaches designed to enable children to comprehend more challenging texts.

This session will consider the geometry content of the Key Stage 1 and 2 programmes of study and the learning journey pupils need to undertake to reach end of Key Stage expectations. We will evaluate activities designed to enhance geometrical teaching and learning and discuss creating challenging tasks to enhance learning and support teachers in their role as informal assessors.
